About Us
Caleb and Rob were originally brought together whilst working at a local company in Stroud doing technical and design things. After a brief spell in the wilderness (Caleb came back from travelling and Rob graduated at University in Business Management and Multimedia) we joined forces in February 2004 and formed the website design agency greatness that is HostPipe!
We spent several years trying to take over the world from a spare room in Caleb’s house in Tetbury, however in September 2008 we decided that world domination really needed to happen from a dedicated office and so we ended up in Chalford.
Having grown our client base from tens to hundreds we realised that it was no longer a two man job, and in April 2010 Ant joined HostPipe as an apprentice web geek. In October 2010 Ant successfully mastered his apprenticeship qualification and joined HostPipe on a full time basis.
In August 2011 we finally upgraded and moved into a vast office in the centre of Stroud, it's fantastic; it has a meeting room and everything and can comfortably fit the three of us...So now we can form our army of Ants (the Apprenticeship scheme is fantastic by the way).
Our quest for world domination is slow...but steady!!
Caleb
Caleb is our chief web geek, he can read a programming book as quickly as Number Five on caffeine and can perform life saving surgery on any type of code. He’s not all hard programming though, he has a sensitive, artsy creative side to him which means he can also design some fantastic web flavours to whet your appetite.
His creative side really shines at home, helping his daughter Lucy with her potato paintings. He also shares a passion for food with his 1 year old son Ben. Groupie (wife) Sheena was also seen at several gigs (when heavily pregnant, that’s dedication) for some band called The Layers in which Caleb is the axe wielding lead guitar rock star hero.
Caleb also likes walking his two lively Springer Spaniels, playing on his PlayStation 3, watching films and Sci-Fi things on TV, rowing and listening to his heroes Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Alex Lifeson.
All hail the rock-god web guru!!
Rob
Rob started out as a systems analyst but soon realised that he could probably build better systems than the ones he was analysing. To this end he puts his considerable skills to work bringing many a dated website into the modern age to the delight of their owners. He has even taken to stripping out the insides of old buildings and improving them as well.
When he’s not relegating the old and tired to the pages of history he can usually be found riding or working with horses in their many guises. A keen follower of racing and a regular presence in many of the horse trials across the county, Rob is as comfortable tramping through a muddy field as he is sat in front of a computer.
Also known as “The Finisher”, Rob acts as HostPipe’s compass when it comes to attention to detail and customer satisfaction. He won’t rest until a project is completed to the highest possible standard.
It is believed that Rob used to DJ for parties and clubs in the local area but, a few years ago, his vinyl trunk was bolted and the key sent to a place where only he can retrieve it. Many a breath is held for the day when he spins up his mixing desk once again...
Ant
Having joined us in early 2010 Ant has proved a veritable force to be reckoned with. We knew he would make an excellent apprentice when he arrived for his interview wearing a t-shirt sporting a little lego-man body with a hole at the top for his head.
His dedication is exuberant, travelling from Chepstow every day in his little red chariot of Vauxhall Corsa fire to join our geek legion.
When he’s not building websites or answering questions from clients or updating our clients’ websites he enjoys collecting and building Lego models, 3D modelling, walking and cycling and entering the world of online gaming.
His CV boasts an ability to use pillar drills, metal lathes, belt/disc sanders, band saws and basic tools. So if he can’t build you a website using code then I guess he’ll fashion you one from wood!
